A dry sheet mask I can bathe with any product of my choice? - M Review 44
By now we all know sheet masks are a must-have item in our skincare routine - or at least I like to think we all do. These essence or serum soaked sheets not only help our skin stay hydrated but also calm down, revive and glow. If you’ve tried one, two or a million different ones you know there’s nothing like picking a sheet mask for the night, putting in on and relaxing for 10-20 minutes while it works its magic (you can add a movie or TV to the mix for extra relaxation).
While I love sheet masks with my heart and soul and couldn’t imagine my life without them at this point, I also love toners. When I tried one for the first time - and I mean a good one, not those stripping-full-of-alcohol ones - my life and skin changed forever. Toners restore our skin's pH levels and help absorb the rest of our products better. They also add a layer of moisture protection that can bring our skin from dull and dry to strong, radiant and hydrated.
Once I jumped into the toner wagon I started trying to find a sheet mask that instead of serum or essence was soaked in toner, but I couldn't find one. What I started doing was soaking cotton pads with my favorite toner and placing them on my forehead, chin and cheeks for a few minutes, which always gave me amazing results (specially for my rosacea), but still, I couldn't cover every spot on my face which was a little frustrating and still no toner-sheet mask to be found.
A few weeks ago I run into the SoonJung Dry Capsule Sheets and the light bulb turned on right away: a dry sheet mask I can bathe with any product of my choice? Was this heaven finally listening to my payers? I got them in a minute as you can imagine and went home to test them immediately. All I had to do was open the capsule, pick a toner of my choice (I try to use very lightweight ones), pour it into the capsule and saw the magic happen. Which looked as a compressed piece of cotton was now expanding until it became a full-size sheet mask, pure magic right there in front of my eyes. I put it on and let it stay there for around 10 minutes. The result? Exactly what I was expecting: glowy, firm, toned skin. Now, this will not replace my regular sheet masks. I consider this more of an intense toning session - I regularly leave it on for around 5-10 minutes - but sheet mask are still a must in my routine.
A few weeks after my first trial I decided to test it out for a trip. I had 6 hours on a plane ahead of me and thought it could be a great time to try the powers of toner and a dry mask. First things first: it's not that regular sheet mask takeover much space on your bag, but if those are already easy to carry then this ones are almost invisible. Right, right, you need to also carry your toner, but I just bring a sample size with me. For the flight I decided to mix toner with a few drops of essence, just to add a little more hydration to the whole experience. Well, it was amazing, to the point I'm thinking of always mixing them both from now on whenever I decide to go for the dry masks.
I feel like these are perfect for a once-a-week super toning session. If you battle rosacea or acne like me adding these to your routine can help balance your skin so the rest of the products you use work better. Have you ever tried a dry mask? Has your experience been as good as mine?
