Intensive Bio-Essence, Galactomyces - Review M16
Probably, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate is not an unfamiliar name for most of the Asian beauty fans. It is first used by Japan’s one of the most prominent cosmetic brand SKII, in their best-selling boosting essence “Facial Treatment Essence” under the marketing name “Pitera.” In 2009, Missha introduced me-too product – “The First Treatment Essence.” Missha did very innovative marketing that exchanging empty SKII bottle to Missha’s First Treatment Essence and it was an unprecedented success. They sold more than 3 million bottles until now, and other companies began to introduce similar type of the product to the market.
To be honest, Galactomyces ferment filtrate is not a scientifically proved, molecular based ingredient. So, some says really good thing about this ingredients, experiences superb result from 2 weeks of use, while some does not feel much difference, just using them as a boosting essence. I was the first case.
First Impression
Elensilia’s Intensive Bio-Essence is clear and watery solution in the bottle. Because of its texture, it is not placed in the pumping bottle. It is quite large (120ml) for essence, but as we know, Galactomyces derived products are generally for the first essence or boosting essence, it seems appropriate amount. The texture on skin is neither refreshing nor thick, something in the middle of watery essence and rich oil. Because of the texture on skin, this essence is good for the people with dry skin or boosting essence for the dry weather. It does not have specific fragrances in their ingredient list so it is almost odorless but because of the Galactomyces ferment filtrate, it has hardly noticeable acidic odor but it is not unpleasant and the smell evaporates away very quick.
Ingredient Check
As Elensilia does to all of their products, the Intensive Bio-Essence contains 90.12% of Galactomyces ferment filtrate. But generally, as most of other brands such as Secret Key, Missha and Cosrx do the same, so I will just pass the Galactomyces content. The amazing part of this essence is the second most content, niacinamide. Niacinamide is a known skin brighter. The KFDA regulate the content of niacinamide and this essence contains the KFDA’s regulated maximum – 5%. To give smoother texture and moisture keeping, dimethicone is added, so please be aware of it, if the silicone ingredient matters to you. It also contains adenosine for anti-aging agent and other moisturizing ingredients such as allantoin, panthenol and sodium hyaluronate. Of course, Elensilia’s signature skin conditioning agent, glycosaminoglycan is there as well.
After Thought
I think it is an excellent boosting essence that you can add on your skin care regime. Because of its high active ingredients, I think it will be an excellent mask primer as well. It absorbs quick and gives you very silky and moisturized skin texture after you use. I think this is a must buy for this year.
Pros: excellent texture and high active ingredients
Cons: A little oil-like texture, if it concerns you
Ideas: Good mask primer for intensive brightening
