NEW Brand: coxir Black Snail Collagen line - M Review 72
Coxir is a new K-Beauty brand that I have been trying out. Initially, I thought this brand, with its packaging and name, was identical to COSRX, famous for their simple skincare products (dupe much?).The packaging was very minimalistic, but Coxir carried a lot of different product lines for different skin concerns, some that COSRX doesn’t carry. I got to try the Black Snail Collagen line, which kind of reminded me of COSRX’s 96 Snail Mucin line. This line has products that all contain ingredients like snail mucin, collagen, and black soybean extract. It claims to be a moisturizing, brightening, anti-aging, and skin repairing line. I’ve been trying out these products for about 2 weeks, so I’m going to give a run-down of my thoughts about Coxir so far.
[coxir] Black Snail Collagen Toner
I’ve never tried a toner that contained snail mucin or collagen before, so I was excited to try this guy out. Like most toners, I expect it to not only add the initial layer of moisture to my skin but also clean any leftover residue from cleansing. The toner itself is quite viscous and sticky (most likely from the snail mucin), but once it absorbs into the skin it feels moisturized and glowy, with a nice brightening effect that I noticed on the duller areas of my face. I also noticed a slight firming sensation after most of it dried down into my skin.
I love the fact that the toner’s most active ingredient is snail mucin. I was surprised to find out the toner has more than just what is being claimed. It also contains birch sap and sodium hyaluronate to add and lock in moisture. The toner also contains yeast extract and galactomyces ferment filtrate for that revitalized complexion. Overall, I was happily surprised with this toner - great for prepping my skin for the rest of the products!
[coxir] Black Snail Collagen Emulsion
I would top off the toner with this emulsion, and the ingredients in the emulsion are virtually the same. Much like the toner it does enrich my skin with an extra boost of moisture that my skin loves. My skin felt soft and supple after letting it soak in the emulsion for about 30 seconds. I did notice, however, that the snail mucin was not the an active ingredient but rather the birch sap and sodium hyaluronate. Nothing to complain about since it did its job by moisturizing and still has the other ingredients, just in lower concentrations. Out of the whole line, I would say this is one item that I could probably live without but I wouldn’t say it’s terrible at the least!
[coxir] Black Snail Collagen Serum
This product was one of the items I was most excited to try since I’m dedicated to my COSRX 96 Snail Mucin Essence. The serum itself feels like a gel and when applied it spreads nicely and absorbs into my skin pretty quickly. My thoughts about it is quite different from my thoughts about the COSRX essence. I feel like this one focuses more on the anti-aging function that it claims to provide. The serum makes my skin feel firmer while also leaving an ample amount of moisture. There is also adenosine in here that works with the collagen to keep my skin tight and plumped. I suffer from forehead wrinkles because I’m very expressive, and by pressing the serum into this problem area, I can tell a noticeable difference - my forehead looks fuller and firmer. I also noticed that it helped a bit with my uneven skin tone. Darker areas of my face visibly looked a lot more even and toned.
[coxir] Black Snail Collagen Cream
This is another one of those items that I wanted to compare with COSRX since they have their own snail cream. I personally like this cream a lot more than the COSRX one because I notice more of a difference in my skin. I love that it incorporates ginseng root extract - an ingredient that revitalizes, firms, and tightens the skin. The cream is sticky so I don’t recommend this for daytime use, but incorporating this in my nighttime routine is a definite must. It’s also super hydrating and leaves a nice protective layer of moisture for my skin. There was a nice illuminating sheen to my skin that carried onto the next day which I live for. It seemed to help reduce the appearance of my fine lines while also evening out my redness and uneven skin tone. Past acne marks and hyperpigmentation got lighter and my skin went from dull to energized.
[coxir] Black Snail Collagen Eye Cream
We have finally arrived at my favorite product from the whole line! I’m always on the lookout for an effective, affordable eye cream. I suffer from dark circles, wrinkles, and sagging undereye bags - definitely from my lack of sleep. Snail mucin is the main active ingredient in this guy, so the consistency will be very sticky and gooey - love it. I gently tap the cream under my eyes and even pull it up towards my forehead. Right off the bat, it’s super nourishing and my under eyes love the hydration. There is a slight brightening and luminous effect to it as well - doesn’t completely erase my dark circles but definitely helps. I also noticed that it has this firming and plumping effect that makes my eyes look more youthful and alive. It gives my eyes a lifting effect that really makes it my top pick for this whole line. I definitely recommend trying this eye cream out if you’re looking for an anti-aging eye cream that won’t break the bank.
Overall, I really like the Black Snail Collagen line from coxir, and I’m glad I got to try this new brand out. There were no products that I hated, but there were some stand-out products that I adore and will continue to include in my skincare routine. The eye cream, toner, and cream, in particular, stood out the most. If you’re looking for a nice anti-aging and revitalizing skincare line in K-Beauty, I’d definitely recommend trying it out. There are a lot of other lines that I’m excited to try out later on. I would give the Black Snail Collagen line a solid 4/5 !
Until the next one,
Stay Beautiful
