Ingredient Spotlight: Hyaluronic Acid for Water-full Skin - M Tips 80
Can you guess what one of the most popular and common skincare ingredients is? If you guessed Hyaluronic Acid, you’re right on the mark! Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is one of the most popular moisturizing ingredients in skincare today. You may often find this ingredient labeled as “sodium hyaluronate”. This ingredient might sound “boring” but it is has a bunch of benefits that everyone’s skin will love! This M Blog will be an “Ingredient Spotlight” with hyaluronic acid taking center stage.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Did you know that HA is actually a naturally occuring substance in the human body? So, everyone has this ingredient being produced in the body. It is considered a glycosaminoglycan (try pronouncing that at one go) that plays an important part in supporting cell structure - most often found in our eyes, joints, and connective tissue.
Despite having the word “acid” in its name, this ingredient is not an chemical exfoliant like AHA, BHA, or PHA. It’s safe to use for ALL skin types - we all naturally produce it anyways! .
Skin-cab Lesson:
Humectant: a substance used to retain or preserve moisture
What will HA do for my skin?
As mentioned in the diagram above, hyaluronic acid’s main function is to retain moisture in the skin for a hydrated complexion. Even though it’s a naturally occuring substance in our bodies, we tend to produce less of it as our bodies age. Our skin becomes drier, loses moisture retention, and isn’t as elastic or firm. The last thing we want is our skin to look dehydrated and aging.
Hyaluronic acid is able to boost up the hydration for a more supple complexion. Your skin will appear more plump while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Imagine the hyaluronic acid filling in those lines with capsules of water - water-full skin"! Using HA in your skincare routine will give you both hydrating and anti-aging benefits for a healthy and younger complexion.

[COSRX] Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence
-
COSRX fanatics unite! I loved using this HA essence, especially during the winter where my oily-combo skin leaned more dry and dehydrated. I’ve always trusted COSRX to cater to my sensitive skin, and this product is no different. It’s such a nice layering product for that extra boost of hydration. My skin looked like it had a nice drink of water. Sometimes I would even put this under a matte foundation to bring out a subtle dew from within. For my dry skin girls, this would be an additional layer of moisture to combat any form of dryness.
